Chris is: CEO of Silverback Social, Author, Blogger, Television and Radio Social Media Commentator

UPDATE: I followed my passion, and while I didn't get a job with Facebook; the exposure this site offered assisted in my pursuit of the perfect job in the Social Media space at Buddy Media.  After a year long tenure with the incredibly smart people over at Buddy Media I've recently embarked on a life long goal to become a full time entrepreneur. I've launched Silverback Social - a social media agency that helps businesses understand, engage, and thrive in social media. We’re unique because we combine the power of enterprise level social media software with straightforward training and strategy sessions. We educate, empower and execute to drive meaningful business conversions.  We don't just hand you the keys the to the car, we teach you how to drive.

I've written a cool little book about social media too. It's called “Your World is Exploding: How Social Media is Changing Everything and How You Need to Change With It.” Frankly, I was shocked when it shot to #1 on Amazon.com’s Hot New Releases. I'm also lucky enough to be a regular contributor on Fox News & Good Day New York. My friends all think I have a face for radio, so I've trie
d my hand at that as well - appearing on The John Gambling show on WOR Radio in NYC, and The Mary Beth Marsden show in Baltimore on WBAL. I've been really lucky and have been able to work with Fortune 500 businesses and start ups alike. That means that I get it. I'm not a writer by any stretch of the imagination, but I have ideas, and I r-e-a-l-l-y like to share them on my personal blog & Social Media Today. I've been quoted in Mashable, and have lectured to military personal aboard the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum (I was terrified). Recently, I was honored by The Business Council of Westchester as one of their 40 Under 40 for 2012. I leverage all of these cool media platforms like television, print, keynote speaking, lecturing, and radio appearances to share my manifesto that social media is a spiritual awakening, not a technological one. I believe that social media is not simply a shift in business, rather a cultural shift in the manner in which we aggregate and disseminate information.

Here is what I had on the home page originally:

Thursday March 12, 2009 the company I worked for was bought by a competitor. Monday March 16, 2009 I was let go. Friday March 20, 2009 I applied for a Sales Director position at Facebook.com. Sunday March 22, 2009 I read a blog post (via Twitter) about an extraordinary person named Jamie Varon (@jamievaron).  Jamie started a website called www.twittershouldhireme.com.  Inspired, I decided to start this site.  Thank you Jamie! Twitter should hire you immediately!

Jamie started a job search revolution with one brilliant idea. She's extraordinary.  The folks over at Facebook are extraordinary as well.

After spending too much time pursuing jobs that offer good monetary compensation, and fancy titles, I've had it.  I'm 34 years old, married and have a gorgeous daughter to provide for, but my focus has shifted.  I can't continue working at soul crushing companies and seeking only monetary reward. I need to find a place where I can be surrounded by like minded, positive and inspired people.

I don't know how to write HTML, but I'm intrigued by the tools that allow me to produce this website in only a few hours. I am a sales/marketing guy, and I'm a student of the internet. I've sold CPC, CPA, and CPM successfully over the past 11 years of my career. I'm obsessive about new technology and I love to blog about my family, the newest gadget I covet or about companies I believe will change our world.  I'm thirsty for knowledge, and I'm scrappy. I'm passionate, and intense with a burning desire to excel.  I'll be the first one in in the morning and the last one to leave at night.  I never cut corners, and I never play political games. I'm truthful, authentic and can communicate well. Being let go twice in one year (after leaving a job I loved to pursue money and a title) has shaken me to the core. I'm humbled and ready to learn.

I'm ready to be passionate about my work again.

Mark Zuckerberg is changing the way we interact with other human beings.  I want to be around people that have passion, are changing the world for the better and as Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee) would say "Bring the Thunder". Check out www.winelibrary.tv or www.garyvaynerchuk.com - it'll change your life.

This site is going to change mine.

Recap: It DID.
